Metal Slug 5 (NGH-2680)
A research installation developing the next-generation of Metal Slugs is attacked by unknown forces and a disk containing Metal Slug secrets is stolen. Ordered to recover the disk, Marco and Tarma follow in hot pursuit. Meanwhile, Eri and Fio, investigating the Ptolemaic Army, a paramilitary syndicate active in archeological excavation, catch up with them at an ancient ruin, 'The Corridor of Fire'. The two try to storm and seize the site but are repulsed by the natives and giant Metal Slugs. This incident proves it was the Ptolemaic Army that stole the Metal Slug secrets. The military subsequently launches a second raid by the elite PF squad and Sparrows on the 'The Corridor of Fire' to recover the secrets and destroy the syndicate!!!

WIP:
- 0.143u6: Changed description to 'Metal Slug 5 (NGM-2680)' and clone '(AES Cart)' to '(NGH-2680)'.
- 0.141: Johnboy corrected chip labels in clone Metal Slug 5 (AES Cart).
- 0.127u5: Removed 268-m1_decrypted.bin audio rom.
- 20th April 2008: Guru - Playmore/SNK Metal Slug 5 PCB arrived from Japan a couple of days ago. The Metal Slug 5 board has a strange funny fault. The left joystick direction is stuck on, so player 1 always moves left. However, moving the joystick right causes the PCB to lock up (because now left and right are both toggled, which would never happen in an arcade cabinet) but the music continues on as usual. It looks like I've uncovered a bug in the original code. This single Neo Geo PCB is also statistically important because it uncovers a few gotcha's. The current dumps were not actually taken from these original PCBs because the ROM labels, ROM count and ROM sizes don't match! Update: It appears there were a few different releases of the Playmore/SNK games on different PCBs. So these are probably just different somehow, maybe a different version? Or maybe the same version, but just with a different number of ROMs?
- 0.123u3: Razoola added clone Metal Slug 5 (AES Cart).
- 0.122: Added correct user3 rom.
- 0.103u5: Razoola and David Haywood added clone Metal Slug 5 Plus (bootleg).
- 0.103u3: Added missing user4 rom and new cpu2 rom.
- 0.103u2: Added Metal Slug 5 (SNK Playmore 2003).
