Hi no Tori - Houou-hen - Gaou no Bouken (Jpn) - 火の鳥鳳凰編 我王の冒険
Hi no Tori Hououhen: Gaou no Bouken (火の鳥 鳳凰編 我王の冒険, "Phoenix: Volume Phoenix (Five) - Adventure of Gaou") is a 1987 video game for the Famicom developed by Konami, produced alongside a similarly named game for the MSX. Both games are based on the series and story arc (Volume 5 - Phoenix) with the same names.
Gaou no Bouken is a typical platformer. Grabbing all 16 puzzle pieces will get Gaou closer to obtaining the phoenix's blood for himself. Stages in the game take place in Feudal Japan, a futuristic world, and back in time during the days of the dinosaurs. Games end after either losing all three lives or completing the picture card for the mythological Phoenix.

Setting
Gaou was teased a lot by his friends for being born without an arm and an eye, eventually turning him into a bloodthirsty killer. While fighting a monk, the monk ordered Gaou to change his ways and become a sculptor. Gaou would end up befriending fellow sculptor Akanemaru who said that drinking the blood of a mythological phoenix will give him immortality.
