Tips on beatmania IIDX 8th style (GCC44 JA)

* Unlock Sakura and Xenon : You must beat a 7 star or 7 star flashing song with another mode and hard enabled. You have to get a AA or higher. Afterwards you will be taken to Sakura as an extra stage. Beat Sakura with a AA and you will be taken to xenon. Once sakura is beaten your background will change to the sakura background and it will be unlocked in your song list. If you beat xenon it will also be unlocked.

WIP:
- 0.131u3: Added 'beatmania IIDX 8th style (GCC44 JA)' (Konami 2002). Preliminary work on beatmania iidx, still lots to do [smf].
- 26th May 2009: Guru - I'm doing some more wiring up today. This time something a lot easier. Pic 1 shows the security slot taken from the Beatmania II DX PCB that arrived recently and wired up to a DIP8 socket. Pic 2 shows 2 security carts opened up. The card on the left is the newer type using a ST24W02 TSSOP8 EEPROM (it's physical size is about 2mm x 3mm). The right card is the older type with an epoxy blob. Pic 3 shows what the security cards look like untouched. Pic 4 is a reminder of what arrived a few years ago. The general idea is to just plug in an untouched security card and dump it out in 1 second. So far the theory worked for one card (left) but not the epoxy blob one so I guess the older ones are different somehow and more research is needed. But at least we now have one of them dumped. UPDATE: Of course, I've also dumped the other required pieces like the CD's and HDD. Thanks to RB we have a nice POST screen for Beatmania II DX. No promises when more might happen but it could be a good idea to watch RB's site for an update. I just dumped the security card for Beatmania II DX 4th Style too, plus the CD's. It's one of the newer types. It appears the older security cards (i.e. possibly all the games from 1999) can't be dumped (yet). There are many missing pieces still required... CD's, HDDs and security cards.
- 23rd March 2009: Guru - Beatmania II DX PCB + HDD (Konami, 1999) arrived from Japan.
- 18th March 2006: Guru - Beatmania II DX pieces arrived late yesterday from Japan.
